I am just a novice artist battling depression with digital art to battle. On some days the depression is debilitating in ways unimaginable. Drawing helps me to cope on those days when I am feeling my worst. Check out my story here.
One of my early drawings after coming out to others about my depression was this mountain lake drawing. I had never thought on how to make something look more realistic. With the use of lighting and reflection, I ended up with the Mountain Lake drawing. The trees were drawn using brush stamps in Procreate but everything else was by hand. Learning to use the layer blending modes, along with the duplicate layer and the rotate 180 degrees transformation was the key to getting those trees to pop as if they were coming up out of the water.
